Backing up a TiPB report from final week, Digitimes reports that Apple's plans to get a Retina Show iPad launch this fall have already been terminated; if they even existed within the 1st spot. According to the report's sources, Apple's initial plan was to generate 1.5-2 million units within the third quarter and 5-6 million in the fourth quarter of a new iPad, but these orders have apparently been cancelled.
The report also believes that plans for the new product's launch have been cancelled as a result of yield rate concerns in the production in the 2048 x 1536 Retina Show. Apple will likely stick to their annual release cycle and release a Retina Display iPad throughout spring 2012. As you are able to see in the image right after the break, Apple is definitely experimenting with iPad computer software that meets the increased resolution.
